LAS VEGAS, NV - Seven digital camera manufacturers were named winners in the 1999 DIMA Digital Camera Shoot-Out today at the PMA 99 Convention & Trade Show in Las Vegas, Nev., USA. 36 digital cameras and 18 manufacturers participated in the Third Annual DIMA Digital Cam-era Shoot-Out, which took place on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at the DIMA Annual Conference in Las Vegas, Nev. The Point-and-Shoot cameras and the Professional Photographic cameras captured images in two live-model studios, while the Commercial Studio cameras captured images of a challenging commercial product set-up.
Images from the Point-and-Shoot cameras were output through a PC running Adobe Photoshop and Adobe PhotoDeluxe and printed on a Lexmark Photo Jetprinter 5770 inkjet printer supplied by Lexmark International Inc., Lexington, Ky., using Kodak Inkjet Paper supplied by Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester, N.Y. Images from the Professional Photographic cameras were output through a PC or Macintosh G3 running Adobe Photoshop and printed in RGB on a Fuji Pictrography 4000, provided by Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc., Elmsford, N.Y. Images from the Commercial Studio cameras were output through a Macintosh G3 running Adobe Photoshop and printed on a Kodak DCP9300 proofer printer supplied by Eastman Kodak Co.
Color management support was provided by Eastman Kodak Co. and ImageXpress Inc., Lawrenceville, Ga. Professional equipment for the three studios was supplied by Bogen Photo Corp., Ramsey, N.J., and light boxes were provided by GTI Graphic Technology Inc., Newburgh, N.Y. Additional equipment and technical expertise was provided by Mark Williford of Pro Rental, Seattle, Wash. The entries were voted upon by PMA voting members at PMA 99, based on criteria that included image/print quality, production and price.
