9/11 PENTAGON MEMORIAL ONLINE

Panoscan Imaging Captures Pentagon 9/11 Memorial For Web Audiences

Los Angeles, CA (October 2, 2002) – Audiences worldwide can now tour the historic 9/11 Memorial located at the Pentagon by logging onto the web site (http://eagleswatchministries.org/).  The Panoscan MK-2 panoramic camera, a ultra-high-resolution digital panoramic camera (shown at the Force Protection Equipment Demonstration IV event) was used to digitally capture the Memorial and the Chapel with the newly installed stained glass windows, dedicated on 9/11/03, by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

The memorial lists the names of the 184 lives lost at the Pentagon on September 11, 2001 and on American Airlines Flight 77. Both military personnel and civilians are honored at the site. Included in the memorial is a dedication to the Defense of Freedom Medal, which is awarded to civilian employees of the Department of Defense who have either lost their lives, or have been injured in the defense of their country. Another section of the memorial honors the Purple Heart Medal, for those military personnel who sacrificed their lives or were wounded through enemy hostilities.

A tour of the Pentagon Chapel is available by clicking the doors leading to the chapel from the memorial site. Above the chapel alter is stained glass hand crafted by the family members and loved ones of those who were lost. The display features a red piece of glass symbolizing each person who died in the Pentagon tragedy.

Panoscan was granted permission as the exclusive provider of imaging for this memorial web site.  PanoscanÕs 360 degree, panoramic imaging enables viewers, on their home or office computers, to zoom in for a close-up examination of all aspects of the memorial, allowing them to read all names and dedications, including an excerpt from an address given by President George W. Bush on October 11, 2001.

The memorial was created by EagleÕs Watch Ministries, whose purpose is to bring hope to those whose loved ones perished in the Pentagon tragedy and to share faith with those who work in the Pentagon. The web site can be viewed at http://eagleswatchministries.org.
