Leading Digital Panoramic Camera Company On Display at Photokina 2000
Hall 10.1 Stand C/D 70 + D/71
Panoscan makes interactive panoramic photography a reality

Los Angeles, CA, September 15, 2000 æ Panoscan will be showcasing its breakthrough panoramic digital camera, The Panoscan System, at Photokina 2000 from September 20-25 taking place in Cologne, Germany. Panoscan will be exhibiting the award-winning, Mac-enabled digital camera in the Phase One Booth located at Hall 10.1 Stand C/D 70 + D/71.

The Panoscan System has Phase One’s top-notch digital line scan technology built in. This Power Phase technology produces digital images with unparalleled resolution, extreme light sensitivity and extraordinary capture quality.

The Panoscan System not only eliminates cost-intensive post capture stitching, it also offers a real-time view of the high-resolution 360 degree captured image as it is being scanned. The maximum image size is an astounding 7,000 pixels by 22,000 pixels over 390 degrees with a maximum capture speed of 125 lines per second. The 42 bit internal color depth provides an unsurpassed 11 f stop exposure compared to negative film’s 7 f stop range and transparency film’s 4-5 f stop range. While the Nikon 28 mm PC (perspective control) lens is preferred for optimal use, the system is adaptable with all standard Nikon mounts from fisheye to 50 mm lenses.

The versatility of the Panoscan System, which provides the ability to capture an image with the same visual acuity of a person with 20/20 vision, has proven to be effective for a growing host of applications. It has especially drawn resonance within the virtual reality community. Whether it’s a law enforcement agency capturing a crime scene to the automotive manufacturing industry creating a truly immersive "virtual driver" environment, for the first time, images can be captured and viewed within seconds as a fully interactive movie on location with speed, quality and ease of use.

"We are proud to demonstrate the high-performance Panoscan System technology at the world's largest photo/imaging industry exposition. With our ‘no compromise’ solution to panoramic image capture, Panoscan is poised to make the convergence between panoramic photography and virtual reality seamless and adaptable," says Panoscan President, and product inventor, Ted Chavalas.
